244,851 jobs were lost globally in the tech industry, a new report covering 2025 has revealed.
American companies topped the list of layoffs, accounting for nearly 70 percent of the jobs shed in the previous year. This translates to some 170,630 positions according to the report compiled by RationalFX.
On the other hand, European companies shed 13.5 percent of jobs translating to 32,608 jobs in total.
“The analysis shows that an estimated 69,840 jobs cut were directly linked to the adoption of AIand automation technologies,” the report notes.
In the Asian nations, India shed 19,049 jobs in the period, while Japanese firms sent home 11,608 employees.
Broken down, the data shows that Intel and Microsoft topped the US job layoffs, sending home 33,900 and 20,009 employees respectively. In India, Mumbai based TCS saw 12,000 staff go home in the year.
“In Europe, more than 11,000 employees were made redundant at Accenture as the company moved towards greater automation and trained its workforce in the use of AI agents,” the report notes
