Standard Chartered appoints Birju Sanghrajka as CEO for Kenya

Bridgette AtienoBy Bridgette AtienoJanuary 21, 2026No Comments1 Min Read

The Board of Standard Chartered has appointed Birju Sanghrajka as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Head of Coverage for Kenya, pending regulatory approvals.

Birju is currently the Head of Corporate and Investment Banking Coverage, Kenya, and has been an Executive Director on the Board since July 2021.

He brings over 26 years’ experience with Standard Chartered, having held senior roles in Corporate and Investment Banking across Kenya, the United Kingdom, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

His deep client relationships, cross-border expertise, and track record of building strong teams, delivering innovative solutions and sustained performance, position him well to succeed Kariuki and to lead the Bank into its next phase of sustainable, value-driven growth.

Birju holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Business Economics and Finance from Loughborough University, United Kingdom. The Board congratulates Birju on his appointment and is confident that he will successfully steer the Bank through its next phase of growth.
