Kenya has enough stock of petroleum products as crisis continue to unfold in the Middle East.
Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi says, a review of the stocks indicate sufficient supply.
”We have scheduled imports for delivery up to end of April 2026 and therefore as it stands we are assured of security of supply,” says Wandayi.
Oil prices have jumped globally after the impact of the conflict between the USA, Israel and Iran expanded to the Gulf states. Analysts have also pointed out that a prolonged conflict could push the price of crude oil beyond the $100 a barrel.
On Saturday, at the onset of the conflict, the African Union had warned that further escalations could carry serious implications for energy markets, food security and economic resilience in the continent.
”We are closely monitoring the fluid situation as it evolves whilst engaging with our G-G suppliers for contingency planning,” added the minister.
