Opposition parties in Kenya are mulling going to court over the hotly contested Thursday by elections.
According to several sources, under the banner of the united opposition, DCP, DAP-K, Wiper Patriotic Front among others claim the vote was full of malpractice.
The opposition was not successful in the six constituency and one county polls save for four member of county assembly posts they clinched.
The polls however has given President William Ruto and his broad-based formation a boost after the UDA party and its partner in government ODM party swept the seats.
“This is just a warning shot to our competitors. 2027, we will beat them fair and square” boasted President Ruto at a public rally in Kiambu county on Friday.
Speaking in Garissa on Saturday, ODM party leader Dr Oburu Oginga, indicated that the win, was an indication of what to come in the next general election.
”If they doubted that we are in broad based government, now they know. We swept them in the by election and we will continue being together (with President Ruto) even in 2027,” Said Dr Oginga who is also the Siaya senator.
IEBC had on Thursday called on the police to investigate incidents of violence and claims of voter bribery during the polls.
