Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) says it is ready for mini polls set for Thursday 27th November 2025.
The commission will be conducting polls in seven parliamentary positions and another 17 county assembly wards.
“The polls will open at 6am and close at 5pm on Thursday. We have made all the necessary arrangements for a smooth process,” chairman of the commission Erastus Ethekon told reporters earlier on Wednesday
The ruling party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Orange Democratic Movement Party are approaching the polls as a team under their broad-based government deal. Opposition parties under the umbrella of United Opposition are also fielding candidates jointly.
On Wednesday only hours away from the polls, the opposition parties sounded alarm over what they termed as ‘state sponsored rigging plans’.
Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on the other hand warned that they will pull all measures to deal with attempts to disrupt the polls. Nearly 5,000 police officers have been deployed to man the mini elections
