ICT and Digital Economy PS John Tanui

The strategy, the government says will catapult the country to a leading AI innovation landscape in the continent.
State Department of ICT and Digital Economy Principal Secretary John Tanui notes that the strategy was developed in consultation with key AI players both in Kenya and globally.

“We are building on our reputation as the ‘Silicon Savannah’ by creating a robust framework that prioritizes innovation, ethical governance, and collaboration,” says Tanui

Kenya will be integrating AI and digital skills into the education curriculum as part of the strategy. Additionally, Tanui says the document has been aligned with the African Union’s Digital Transformation Strategy.

The Strategy has been developed in partnership with the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, and the European Union through the Digital Transformation Center Kenya.

Other partners include the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ); Canada’s International Development Research Center (IDRC) and the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office.
