Kenya’s national carrier Kenya Airways has issued a profit warning for its financial period ending December 31st, 2025.
The carrier in a statement noted that its earnings will be lower by at least 25 percent, than the earnings reported for the same period last year.
The earnings KQ says is despite a rebound in the global aviation industry that is supported by growing passenger numbers.
”The sector has faced notable headwinds, including engine availability challenges, persistence spare parts global supply chain constraints as well as aircraft shortages in the market,” it said in a statement to shareholders.
The airline added that it has grounded three Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft which constitutes 38 percent of its wide body fleet.
”The fleet has significantly impacted the airline’s performance due to reduced capacity and drop in passenger numbers,” it added.
In its six month’s earnings, KQ posted a Ksh12B loss, compared to a Ksh513M profit it recorded in the same period in 2024.
