Former Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma has been appointed UN Drugs and Crime Office Executive Director and UN Vienna Office Director General.
She succeeds Egypt’s Ghada Waly.
She is currently serving as the National Security Adviser to President William Ruto and Secretary to Kenya’s National Security Council (since 2022).
Ms Juma has served in various Ministries of Kenya, namely the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was Acting Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining.
