Emirates has announced a new order for Boeing 777-9 aircraft.
The airline said it ordered 65 additional new Boeing 777-9 planes worth $38 billion to bring its total to 315 orders for Boeing’s wide-body jets.
This purchase increases the airline’s total 777-9 order to 270 planes.
Emirates is the world’s biggest operator of Boeing 777s, the new order is expected to meet rising global travel demand.
Speaking on the announcement of the order, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group emphasized that this reflected Emirates’ long-term commitment to the Boeing 777-9 program.
This latest investment further positions Emirates to expand its global network with advanced, efficient widebody aircraft.
During the Air show, Boeing also said Ethiopian Airlines had placed an order for a further 11 737 MAX 8 aircraft, while Air Senegal will purchase nine 737 MAX jets, with options for another six.
