    Cyber attack: Kenya’s ministries hacked

Bridgette AtienoBy Bridgette AtienoNovember 17, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

A number of Kenya’s ministerial departments are facing a cyber attack.

Access to key ministry websites has been restricted since early morning. The websites, including those of the Presidency, Ministries of Interior, Health, Education, Water and Labour, are currently defaced.

Attempts to log into the websites are met with an ‘access denied by PCP’. The message continues, ‘We will rise again, White power worldwide and 14:88 Hail Hitler’.

So far, the concerned ministries have yet to speak on the attacks, with insiders indicating that ‘furious attempts are being made to recover the sites.

Kenyan government sites have been an easy target for cyber attacks in recent years.

According to the Communications Authority of Kenya the period between July and September 2025, they detected 842 million cyber threat events.  Most of these, the authority says, exploited system vulnerabilities.

‘The detected cyber threats can be attributed to several factors, including inadequate system patching, limited user awareness of threat vectors such as phishing and other social engineering techniques, as well as the growing adoption of AI-driven attacks and machine learning technologies by malicious actors,’ says David Mugonyi, Director General Communications Authority, in the report.
