Proto Energy and OLA Energy have partnered to increase automotive LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) access in Kenya to reduce diesel and petrol use.
This comes amid rising demand as the number of cars operating on LPG increases.

The collaboration introduces OTO Gas dispensing pumps at OLA stations in the Capital, and targets dual-fuel vehicle owners. It will offer cheaper, lower-emission alternatives with up to 15-20% reduced CO₂ output.
The initiative leverages OLA’s retail network and aligns with Kenya’s National LPG Growth Strategy, aiming for 70% penetration by 2028.
Launched in January 2026, the first site integrates LPG pumps into existing OLA infrastructure for convenience and ease of access.
Proto’s Managing Director Joel Kamau highlighted accessibility for motorists during the launch, as his counterpart in OLA Mohamed Elhoderi emphasised innovation and sustainability with plans to have a multi-site rollout across Nairobi stations.
