Risper Ohaga, East African Breweries Limited (EABL) chief finance officer has resigned.
Ohaga, the brewer says resigned to pursue other interests ‘outside EABL in line with her career aspirations’
In a statement late Wednesday, Company Secretary Angela Namwakira noted that Ohaga’s resignation will take effect from June 30th 2026.
Ohaga has been with EABL since 2020 and also served as the executive director.
“She has been instrumental in supporting industry sustainability initiatives the ICPAK’s National Sustainability Steerco and being a resource person at various leadership forums, “ reads the statement.
Her resignation comes less than a month after EABL parent company Diageo entered into a sale agreement with Asahi, Japanese brewers to offload its 100 percent stake in its Kenyan unit.
Diageo Kenya holds 65 percent shareholding in EABL. The deal is estimated at $2.3B and includes sale of the Kenyan spirits division UDVK.
Last week, a Kenyan court moved to Friday January 20th, a hearing of a case that seeks to stop the deal. Beer distributor Bia Tosha in a petition, says the deal should be put on hold until a pending case dating back to 2016 is determined.
