Bolt has announced that over 40% of its motorbike fleet in Kenya is now electric, making it the country’s largest EV ride-hailing operator. The company has also onboarded more than 1,700 riders through its financing partnership with M-KOPA, surpassing its 2025 target ahead of schedule.
The shift to electric bikes is reducing emissions, cutting rider fuel and maintenance costs, and supporting Kenya’s clean transport goals. Bolt recorded 4.8 million EV rides in the past year, showing strong demand for affordable, sustainable mobility.
Both Bolt and M-KOPA say the rapid growth proves that riders quickly adopt electric bikes when financing barriers are removed. Bolt plans to expand its electric fleet further in 2026 through new partnerships and rider support initiatives.
