Kenya has finally broken ground for the expansion of the 175KM Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit road that it has dubbed as the gateway to prosperity.
The highway linking western Kenya towns of Kisumu and Eldoret is a key travelers and cargo corridor will be expanded to a multi-lane dual carriageway.
”It has been designed and will be financed, expanded, operated and maintained through a world class Public Private Partnership Model,” said President William Ruto at the ground breaking ceremony.
The Ksh170B project will also include the Nairobi-Mai Mahiu-Naivasha road famed for cargo transport to western Kenya.
’’For too long, the corridor carried more than it could bear,” added President Ruto.
Kenya estimates that the project will hire over 15,000 employees in its two year period. A consortium led by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and includes the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) are the contractors of the project
